In the world of tech companies, there is no single "right" way to structure a Partnerships organization. Every company operates differently, shaped by its size, market, and strategic goals. However, to succeed with Partners, a minimum set of functions is essential to ensure alignment, efficiency, and growth. 🚀


Key Partner Functions in Tech Companies 🏗️


🔍 Partner Strategy: focuses on defining the overarching Partner Ecosystem. It sets the direction for which types of Partners the company should engage with (e.g., agencies, resellers, integrators, technology partners) and how those relationships align with broader company objectives. Additionally, Partner Strategy defines the Ideal Partner Profile (IPP) and designs the Partner Program to cater to different partner types, ensuring alignment with business goals. Partner Strategy teams often collaborate closely with executive leadership and product teams.


⚙️ Partner Operations: ensures that Partnerships run smoothly by managing systems, processes, and data. From partner onboarding and ongoing enablement (i.e., everboarding) to performance tracking and incentive structures, this team provides the operational backbone that allows Partnerships to scale efficiently.


📢 Partner Marketing: a strong marketing strategy to, through, for, and with Partners is crucial, and this is where Partner Marketing plays a key role. This function develops joint marketing campaigns, co-branding initiatives, and demand generation programs to help both the company and its Partners drive revenue.


💼 Partner Sales: focuses on driving revenue through and/or with partners. This function may include Channel Account Managers, Partner Development Managers, Partner Success Managers, or Alliance Managers who work closely with Partners to close deals, co-sell, and build long-term revenue streams.
